Summer 2010 is here! Larkey Pool is open and ready for another great summer of swimming and fun.
As you know, the theme for this year is “Larkey 2010: A SAFE Summer!” The focus for 2010 is SAFE: Safety and Accountability make Fun for Everyone.
SAFETY: Improved signage has been installed throughout our facilities along with a new gate across the bridge. A lifeguard will be stationed near the diving board to more closely monitor diving board activity. A message board has been added to the entry way in order to improve communication about various Larkey activities and important information.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Thank you to everyone who completed their 2010 maintenance duties. You exemplify Accountability! The facilities look fantastic and we will all enjoy your efforts.
FUN: Opening Day is May 1st! Come see your Larkey friends after the long, wet winter. Also, mark your calendar now for Margarita Night on Saturday May 29th! Come to the pool and enjoy Mexican food, cold beverages and fun in the sun. Margarita Night is a great Larkey tradition and is a wonderful opportunity to invite friends and family. Everyone is welcome. And remember the annual Memorial Day Party on May 31st!
EVERYONE: The Board would like to welcome the many new families who have joined Larkey this year! New members, please contact any of the Board members if you have questions or feel free to ask the gatekeeper or Pool Manager. Also, to “veteran” members, please introduce yourself to the new families. We want everyone to feel welcome at Larkey. The next Board meeting will be held Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 7:00 pm at the pool. All members are welcome at every Board meeting.
Here’s to another great summer!
See you at the pool,
Gloriann
The Board is pleased to announce the completion of two important capital projects. The Larkey baby pool area has been expanded and renovated. A new baby pool fence has been installed along with a new sun shade over the baby pool. The new fence looks great and is a wonderful improvement that enhances our club.
A second capital project has also been completed. The mastic that runs along the edge of the main pool and the baby pool has been replaced. In addition, many tiles in the main pool along the water line have been replaced along with new brick pool edging near the stairs. This project is important for the longevity of both pools.
Finally, a redwood gate has been installed across the bridge. This allows the area beyond the bridge to be open and closed as needed throughout the summer.
A special thank you to Pete Whipple and Roger Bergin for their efforts with these important projects.
The new diving board is installed and ready for jumping fun!
We need to work together to maintain the new diving board. This summer a lifeguard will be stationed on deck near the diving board to keep diving board jumpers safe.
Please help do your part for diving board safety by respecting the following and reminding your kids: 1. Only one person on the diving board at a time. 2. Maximum weight limit is 250 pounds. 3. Swim directly to the stairs after your jump to exit the pool.
Together we maintain the great Larkey diving board tradition!
